Endoscopic Stomach Balloon

In this method, a hollow balloon is placed into the stomach from the mouth under mild anesthesia with endoscopy. Then the balloon is inflated and feeling of satiety is provided with a fullness in the patient’s stomach. Stomach balloon is defined as a non-surgical method. However, a significant difference from other methods is to remove the balloon after a certain period of time (1 year) and the provided results are not permanent.

The balloon is used for the temporary treatment of obesity, helps to lose weight and protect lost weight. Also, prior to obesity surgery, it helps in reducing the risks of surgery and losing weight of patients who will undergo surgery before surgery. However, the balloon can be left in the stomach for 1 year. Once the balloon is removed, the person can regain weight if he / she does not adopt a proper diet or exercise program.
